WELCOME TO THE STAR INN

This friendly pub has been serving ales since at least 1572 to tourists and locals alike. This historical little gem was the inspiration for the White Star shipping line and there are various items of Titanic memorabilia on view around the pub.

We challenge any ale drinker to find a better pint

Lita has been awarded accolades for her cellar and cask management. You will find all Wickwar Wessex Brewing Company’s classics including BOB, Falling Star & Cotswold Way alongside seasonal guest and rotating favourites.

Sky and BT Sport ensure all sports fans are kept happy with an easy view to a screen from any point in the pub. There is also a screen in our enclosed suntrap garden but watch out for the “gorillas” in the undergrowth!

MENU

“Sunday lunch is a new venture for the Star being run as a trial since reopening after lockdown. Roast beef was superb with perfect roast potatoes and delicious veg.
Pudding also hit the mark – wonderful sticky toffee pudding.
Can’t believe they can keep the cost to ONLY £12/15 head. Worth more.
Will definitely be going back.”

“Old fashioned pub with a very friendly welcome with suitable space for comfortable distancing and locally sourced delicious food.”

“Always a good pint of ale to be had in here. Friendly locals and kind staff who look after you. The pubs divided into microclimates: separate areas for sport on tv, sofas, a large beer garden with some cool gigs, twin aspect bar, and rooms for dart games. Not that I do well at all, but the pub quiz is well written and accessible, with free entry, a random team getting free drinks, and usually a free chip butty to finish.”

“The Star is not just about sport though, it is also a well-known live music venue with bands and offers theme nights most weekends along with the ever popular Sunday night quiz
Foodies are well catered for at lunchtimes with a variety of homemade specials and an extensive pub menu complemented by the wide range accompanying beverages”

Wickwar Brewery

“Another family function held by us in the back room in the Star, this time father-in-law 70th birthday party, sausage and chips with bread and butter made for us all by the always accommodating Lita even though it was her birthday today. Really appreciate what she has done for us as a family once again and hope everyone gives her a great night this evening to celebrate her 21st again! Sorry we can’t be there but hope she has the great night this lovely hardworking lady deserves. Lita Ralston as your establishment’s name suggests you are a STAR. Thank you from the Walkers!”
